The Four Hour Interview

The Four Hour Interview

Just Scribbles

We don't just rent space here. We have conversations. Long ones. Here's why that matters.

When someone reaches out about joining The Collaborative, we don't send them a lease.

We have a conversation. Sometimes a very long one.

We want to know what they're building and why. We want to know what they believe about business and community. We want to know if they're the kind of person who, when they see a neighbor struggling, leans in or looks away.

This isn't gatekeeping. It's curation. The community we've built here is the product — and every person who joins either adds to it or takes away from it. We take that seriously.

The four-hour interview isn't always four hours. Sometimes it's a coffee that turns into lunch. Sometimes it's a tour that turns into a two-hour conversation about what it means to run a business with integrity in a small town.

What we're looking for isn't a perfect business plan. It's a person who gets it — who understands that the space they're renting comes with neighbors, and that those neighbors are part of the deal.

The best tenants we've ever had didn't just find a space. They found a home.
